Today Oct 18th we went to the open house at the Englewood Sailing Association This is the second time we visited a sailing club. But this time we got to sail a 14ft RS.

Brendan, Deborah and I signed the waiver and put on life jackets. An instructor helped us board the little boat and gave instructions on what ropes to pull.
Off we went. It was a perfect day for this. 80 with a breeze. You can’t beat October in Florida.

Once we got moving he asked me to drop the centerboard. Deborah and I raised the jib to gain more speed. We had to lean a little to keep the little boat stable.

It was a short trip maybe 25 minutes. We jibed a couple times to change direction. Shawn explained how to change the sail directions and control the wind load so we didn’t tip over.
This was a very pleasant moment and even Brendan had a smile.
We are looking forward to more introductory lessons.
